Curology Review – My new go-to for all my skincare needs

This review on Curology’s skincare products is one I’ve been wanting to do for some time now. Finding the perfect skincare routine is challenging.

With thousands of products to choose from both in stores and online this seemingly simple task can become overwhelming. From drugstores to high-end products it’s no surprise that people constantly waste money in hopes of creating a skincare routine that works for them.

The truth is, our skin is ever-changing, so there will never be the “perfect” routine, but there are ways to find a regimen that works for you. For example, you could see a Dermatologist for more information on your skin type and receive product recommendations. However, many people don’t have the money to invest in that type of care.

If that’s you, don’t worry. Curology has come to the rescue! You can now take control of your skincare routine while keeping the money you invest at a minimum.

Before I begin my review lets get into what Curology is exactly.

What is Curology?

Like every major brand Curology came from humble beginnings.

In 2013, Dr. David Lortscher founded Curology after one of his patients trialed his products for six weeks and saw successful results. This particular patient had lived with acne for years, and tried every product under the sun, with little improvement. At her six-week follow-up appointment, she was in tears as she explained that for the first time in seven years she had her confidence back. This patient, just like many people, did not know that skincare could be so affordable. She’d never been to a Dermatologist because she thought they were for “rich people”, but Dr. Lortscher changed that narrative for her and he’s now doing the same for thousands of others.

After this experience, Dr. Lortscher gathered a few of his family members and began working on his vision of offering affordable skincare to all.

How Curology Works

Today, Curology offers virtual personalized care to thousands through a subscription service.

Once you officially sign up you’ll be asked to complete a questionnaire. This will give your virtual Dermatologist an overview of your skin type and problem areas, so they can craft your personalized skin care regimen. You don’t have to take the time to find what works, which is a life saver!

Your Dermatologist will then send out your trial order, which is free. All you’ll need to pay is the $4.95 shipping fee. Each order after that will be $32.42/month and that is billed every two months.

In your box you’ll receive:

  • A gentle daily facial cleanser (morning and night use)
  • A lightweight moisturizer (morning use)
  • A personalized serum (night use)
  • A pack of spot patches to target acne bumps

It’s important to note that even though your skin routine is personalized to your needs it will take some time to kick in. Curology advises that your skin will need six to eight weeks to purge and adapt to the products, so keep that in mind.

My personal review of Curology

Curology before and after usage

I began using Curology in August of 2020. It was a great decision to say the least! I’ve seen amazing results, so I knew I had to write a review for you all.

I have never struggled with bad acne, but I did have occasional spots on my cheeks that would flare-up. Even when they began to fade it never truly went away. So, I started using Curology to address those problems. Since then I’ve noticed a huge difference in the texture of my skin and the number of breakouts I have has decreased significantly.

For the price, I would say that it’s well worth the investment. All products are full size and last the full two months, so you won’t run out in between shipments.

Lastly, if you aren’t able to afford the 2-month subscription there is an option to reduce the number of shipments you get. Plus you’re allowed up to five free messages with your Dermatologist, so if you find that something isn’t working for you they will work to get your products switched out.

Although I use Curology daily I still apply facemasks when I feel they’re needed. Here are a few I love to use year-round! If you’re looking for a way to improve your skincare and find a routine that you can trust I’d highly recommend Curology.
