Simmer Pot Recipes That Will Bring Fall to Your Home

I discovered a new fall obsession and I HAVE to tell you about it! Before we start, welcome back to CamilleLove. I know it’s been a while, please forgive me. I’ve missed you guys!

One of my favorite things to do is make our home a little more comfy than it already is. Especially as the seasons change.

My husband knows that I’m a lover of all things fall. I’m constantly walking around saying, “it’s fall ya’ll”, drinking my pumpkin spice latte’s, purchasing fall scents, and watching all the football games I possibly can.

This fall I have a new obsession: simmer pots!

What is a simmer pot?

A simmer pot is a mixture of fresh fruit, spices, and herbs combined in boiling water. As the liquid and fragrant ingredients begin to heat up, they release a beautiful natural aroma into the air making your home smell festive and cozy.

I love mixing different ingredients together to get new and exciting scents. It’s like buying a new candle for a fraction of the price!

Simmer pot benefits

I’ll admit, as of a few weeks ago I had no idea what a simmer pot was. That is until they were all over my “For You Page” on TikTok and Instagram! But, since discovering them I’ve learned a lot about their benefits and even put together my own recipe on my TikTok account.

If you’re curious about the benefits of simmer pots here are a few key ones:

  • They are completely natural.
  • Simmer pots don’t contain toxic chemicals.
  • They are relatively inexpensive to make.
  • It’s a great way to utilize food scraps and/or old fruit.
  • You can easily customize the scents based on the season.

How to make a simmer pot

Making a simmer pot is actually really easy. Simply fill a small pot with water and bring to a boil. Add the ingredients from your favorite recipe, let them boil for a few minutes, then turn the heat down to a low simmer. Add water as needed, usually every 30 – 45 minutes or so.

If leaving your stove unattended makes you feel uneasy, then a Crock-Pot or slow cooker will also work. Fill the pot 3/4ths of the way with water, add your ingredients, put the lid on, then turn the Crock-Pot or slow cooker to high. Once you see steam rolling off the top, take it off and set it to the low setting. Add water in as needed to keep it at least halfway full.
