A year in review: My 2023 Reading List Wrapped

Chapter 2023 is coming to a close, so you know what that means. Time to get your 2024 reading list together!

These past 6 months have truly been about becoming reacquainted with my love for reading, and I didn’t hold back at all. Since getting a library card in June, I’ve read a total of 20 books! As I’m writing this I’m in shock that I read that much in such a short amount of time, and I’m excited to see how much more I’ll read in 2024.

This year I definitely stepped outside the box when it came to the type of books I read. I typically go for romance novels (the innocent kind) and mystery. But, this year I dipped my toe in the historical fiction and suspense/thriller pools quite a bit.

My willingness to try new reading material this year certainly make for a diverse reading list recap. That’s for sure!

I want to do this in an organized fashion, so I’ve grouped my recap into three tiers:

  • Tier 1: books I would read again
  • Tier 2: books I enjoyed, but reading once was enough
  • Tier 3: books I could have gone without

Let the recap begin!

Books I’d read again

Lessons in Chemistry, The Personal Librarian, Crazy Rich Asians Trilogy, My Life, My Love, My Legacy

As a collective I would give these books a 5-star rating, and I would absolutely read them again! Each of them have a special place in my heart.

Books I enjoyed

This group is comprised of 4-5 star ratings because I throughly enjoyed reading them. Truth be told, I read two of them (Monday’s Not Coming and The German Wife) in under 72-hours. But, I wouldn’t read them again, which is why they are in tier two of this review.

Books I could go without

Now, these are books that I quite honestly could live without. I got through them, but a lot slower than usual. A majority of these are 3-star books due to the lack of character development and mediocre endings. This third tier goes to show that not every book will be what you expect.

See you in 2024

That’s all I have! Now onto building my 2024 reading list. Follow me on GoodReads as I do so!

I can’t wait to share more of my reading adventures with you all in the new year.

Have a blessed and Happy New Year!
